Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Budget-Friendly: Pork chops are an affordable protein choice.
  • Quick & Easy: Ready to serve in just 25 minutes.
  • Versatile: Complements almost any side dish.

Ingredients

  • Boneless Pork Chops: An affordable and widely available protein option.
  • Light Brown Sugar: Provides a subtle sweetness for a traditional barbecue profile.
  • Salt: Enhances the natural flavors of the meat and spices.
  • Chili Powder: Forms the base of the barbecue rub.
  • Black Pepper: Adds a touch of warmth to the spice blend.
  • Smoked Paprika: Delivers a rich, smoky depth (regular paprika can be substituted).
  • Garlic Powder: Adds savory depth to the rub.
  • Chipotle Powder: Optional; adds a kick of heat.
  • Olive Oil: Helps seal in moisture during broiling.

How to Make Broiled Pork Chops

  1. Prepare the Spice Rub: Combine all the barbecue rub ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Season the Meat: Generously coat the pork chops on all sides with the spice mixture. Transfer them to a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. (Tip: Avoid seasoning directly on the baking sheet, as loose brown sugar can burn in the oven.)
  3. Broil: Broil for 7 minutes, flip the chops, and cook for an additional 6 to 8 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  4. Rest & Serve: Transfer the pork chops from the oven once fully cooked and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving to lock in the juices.

Variations

  • Spice Adjustment: Include chipotle powder for extra heat, or skip it entirely for a standard barbecue flavor.

BBQ Rub
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • ½ tablespoon salt
  • ½ tablespoon chili powder
  • ½ tablespoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon chipotle powder optional, leave out if you don’t want spice
Broiled Pork Chops
  • 4 boneless pork chops 1-inch thick, about 6oz each
  • BBQ Rub
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
  1. Arrange the top oven rack, so it’s ⅔ of the way up from the bottom of the oven. Turn the broiler setting to high and let the oven warm up for a few minutes.
  2. Mix ingredients for the BBQ Rub together.
  3. Cover both sides and the edges of the pork chops in the rub. Place them onto the baking sheet and drizzle them with olive oil. Don’t season the chops on the baking sheet. Loose brown sugar will burn in the oven.
  4. Broil for 7 minutes, then flip and cook for another 6-8 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  5. Allow the pork chops to rest for 5 minutes before serving. Pork loins are very lean. You don’t want a drop of liquid escaping.
